I say “revert” and not “regress” because regress has the twinkle of a bully in its eye. While “revert” feels more transitory, like a revolving door, “regress” is the sad long trip down an escalator where everyone at the bottom is laughing at you while cramming mall pretzel nuggets down each other’s throats (please tell me this is a universal nightmare).
